PINK PANTHER, Porcelain by Jeff Koons (1988)

Jeff Koons have built in this case a very scary embrace between the Pink Panther and a cheesy centerfold with more than 3 feet tall, this sculpture is almost life-size, and the fact that it is made from porcelain, a material more commonly used for knick-knacks than a major sculpture, means that its surface is slick and glossy and the cloying presence of the Pink Panther combine to produce a work that is both annoyingly bland and annoyingly attractive. The porcelain, the flat pastel colors that evoke Warhol´s Marilyn Monroe portraits.
