Starry Night was painted By Vincent van Gogh when he was at the asylum at Saint-Rémy. Unlike most of Van Gogh's works, Starry Night was painted from memory and not outdoors as was Vincent's preference. This fact may explain in part why in this piece the emotional impact is more powerful than other works of Van Gogh from the same period.
